great drs

Wednesday June 27, 2013

I have a wonderful team of Drs taking care of Aaron. When we were first looking into adopting Aaron we were told that there weren't any good Drs here and that we should look at Riley. I knew he had a lot of medical conditions and I wanted to talk with the Drs here. I knew we had a good pediatrician for Nick and I really wanted him to take care of all my boys. I am so thankful that I did. He has taken such great care of Aaron. I know Aaron would not be here with us if it weren't for Dr C and all of the other Drs he has working with Aaron.  Together they have made Aaron better when I had started to lose hope. He listens and acts on my concerns. He has taken the time to get to know Aaron and his personality. He has heard him make sounds and realizes they are new ones. He knows his level of activity. He knows Aaron.

Aaron had an appointment Wednesday morning at 8:15am. Riding in the car puts him to sleep. He was still sleeping when I put him in his wheelchair and headed into the medical building. As we were walking down the hall he stretched and pulled out his feeding tube. I stopped and was trying to untangle the tube and turn the pump off. Aaron was still sleeping and he has a very hard time waking up due to all of his seizure meds. He slumped forward as I was trying to turn off the pump. All of a sudden I heard someone ask if I needed help If he was ok. I am so used to people telling me that Aaron is sleeping because he is blind and always looks down or giving me a disgusted look like he should not be out in public. I was still untangling the tube when I said he was ok that he was just sleeping. I looked up to see Dr C with a look of concern on his face. He knew Aaron. He knows that he is usually sitting up and alert. I feel so incredibly blessed to have such amazing Drs.

Having these amazing Drs has also made the decision easier to add more boys tour family. I know I have the time, energy and love for more special little boys and I know I have the Drs to take care of their special needs. I am so thankful for each of our Drs.
