more snow days

The boys have had lots of snow days. We are enjoying every one of them. I LOVE having all of the boys home together. Today the boys got  a "no school today surprise" They both loved their lego set. We have done lots of activities and lots of experiments. The boys are so cute doing science experiments. Keagan always wants to know if there is going to be "an splosion" and Nicholas is always thinking out everything. He likes to change things and do the experiments a few times to see the differences.

Aaron had a neuro appointment today. We decided not to change his meds since he is doing so well. He is still having seizures but we have not been to the hospital since September. At the end of the appointment Dr O sat down and turned to me and said "I am retiring May 1 st" I almost burst into tears. No!!!! Aaron is such a complex little boy. Dr O has been with us since the onset of his seizures. He knows Aaron. Then he said that they were interviewing some new neuros and we would make a decision at Aaron's next appointment in April. So much to think about. Do we stay with the new neuro or do we change and go with Dr k. Dr K is the dr that put Aaron on the Sabril and Vimpat. These are the meds that are helping him the most. I like Dr K but she was very big on getting Aaron VNS Therapy. (vagus nerve stimulator). I have mixed feelings about this. Lots to think and pray about.

I went and got the mail today, which is weird because I never get the mail. I got a letter from Aaron's endocrinologist, Dr T. She was letting me know that she is retiring at the end of April. WHAT!?! You have got to be kidding me. Another Dr leaving. I LOVE Dr T. She knows Aaron. Every time he has been in the hospital she always comes to see him. She has been Aaron's dr since we first brought him home. I have met our new endo, Dr R. she is very nice but not Dr T. I guess it will take some time to get used to her and to totally trust her with Aaron. There are lots of changes in the future. Aaron is doing well and I pray that he continues to be healthy.

Aaron had to have labs done this morning. His sodium level is high and we are trying to bring it down by increasing his free water. He went from 85mls to 110 mls three times a day. Today the results show that it is still high. It is 153 and his thyroid level was .98. His endo increased his thyroid meds from 37.5  mcg tp 50mcg a day. She also increased his free water to 150 mls three times a day. He will have more labs done next week.

Monday January 13, 2014

Today the boys went back to school after their 3 week break. It is so quiet with just 2 boys home. I got lots done today. I never want to do anything else while the boys are home. I feel that they are only little once so I do all my other things after they go to bed. Tonight I should be able to curl up with a book after my sweet angels go to bed. Ha! Bedtime is a very long process and I will probably be exhausted and ready for bed myself.

The boys are so excited to still be home.  I am so glad that the weather is a little warmer today. The boys went outside this morning and were able to stay out longer. They had a great time. We warmed up with some hot chocolate afterwards. The boiling water was still a hit today ad we also painted in the snow with food coloring. The bubbles are still not working very well but we will keep trying. Keagan lost a tooth today. He is so excited to see what is under his pillow in the morning. The boys have school tomorrow but they do have a 2 hour delay. I am going to miss them being home all day. I am looking forward to their spring break.

The boys were off school again today because of the weather!! We played with Play Doh again. I still can't believe Nick touches it now. He NEVER touched it before always telling us what to make for him. We also got to go outside for a little bit so they could play in the huge drifts in the backyard.  We had fun, snuggled and drank hot chocolate. We also decided to see if we could grow celery form the part leftover after dinner. They are very excited to watch and see if any regrows. Freezing bubbles is really isn't working because its so windy. Its hard to catch them to watch them freeze. We will try again tomorrow. The boys also asked for the boiling water again so we did that lots of times today. The day wouldn't be complete without some snow ice cream. I can't believe how much they like it. We are all so excited because we just found out that we don't have any school tomorrow either!!

No school today! Everything is closed today because of the storm!! We had a lot of fun today. First we threw boiling water into the air! They LOVED it so much we did it many times during the day.

 Next we made Snow Ice Cream. It was fun to make but I wasn't sure they would eat any. They both ate their entire bowl. Even Nicholas kept saying it was so good and he NEVER eats anything!!

The boys and I had a snowball fight inside with huge marshmallows! I LOVED hearing the boys squeal and giggle. Taevon and Aaron are enjoying the boys being home. The night ended with a family movie and we all snuggled together on the couch. We had such a great day and we just found out we get to have another tomorrow!! I am so excited to have another day with all the boys!!
