outpatient clinic visit

Monday September 24, 2012

Aaron is finally home. He went to the Dr today and we ended up in the outpatient clinic. He was lathargic, not eating or drinking, hadn't had a wet diaper all day and was very cold.  They found out that his heart rate had dropped to 68 and his body temp was only 94.2. So they sent us to the clinic for some labs, an antibiotic (via IV) and a bolus of normal saline. Once he got some fluids he stated feeling better and his labs came back fine. His body temp stayed low but he seemed to perk up some while we were there. His Dr sent him home since his labs were good and so far he has been doing better. He drank 8 oz and is now sleeping peacefully. Hopefully he will continue to improve and start eating soon.

Homeschool

Friday September 21, 2012

I have been thinking about homeschooling the boys for awhile. After today I am really going to look into it for Aaron and Taevon. Today Taevon came home with a bruise under his chin and a cut inside his mouth. His afternoon bus driver (that I just adore) said they told her that Taevon was really quiet at school. When he saw me his face just lit up and he started bouncing in his chair and had the biggest smile. She couldnt believe that change in him. I understand that these things happen so I opened his communication book to see how he hurt his chin. It said "Taevon had a good day today" and that was it. There was nothing in it about him being quiet or how he hurt his chin. That made me upset. Taevon can't tell me what happened or anthing about his day. I rely on this communication book to let me know how he is doing. I called the school and spoke with his teacher. I told her I was just wondering how he hurt his chin. She said "I don't know, he didnt fall." She never mentioned asking any of the 3 helpers in the class. How do they not know what happened to him. She said he was on the floor with another child but didn't think anything happened, that he went to all of his classes and nothing happened. Are there too many children in the class and not enough help? Why was he in the floor with another child unattended? He cant talk or move to get away from another child, there should have been an adult right there with him. Somone should know how it happened. Some how he hit his chin hard enough to leave a bruise and to make him cut the inside of his mouth. Now I am wondering if anyone was even there to pick him up and hug him when he cried. I know he cried because he had streaks down his cheek from crying.  It makes me sad to think he was hurt and nobody was there. I am looking forward to the visit with my caseworker next week to talk about homeschooling my little angels.

basketball

Nicholas is playing basketball again. He LOVES it this year. He is on the lime team with one of his friends. He had a clinic by the MAD ANTS and got some autographs.  He loves to play defense and this year is looking forward to making lots of baskets. I am looking forward to his first game next week.

birthday party

Sunday September 16, 2012

Nicholas had his family birthday party today. He was so excited to have the house decorated. Poor Aaron still is not feeling good. His temperature has been very low (between 95.9 and 96.3). He spent most of the day wrapped in his blanket being rocked by grandma. Hopefully he will start feeling better soon.

Ist Michigan game

Saturday September 15, 2012

Nicholas went to his first Michigan game. He was so excited and looked adorable in his Michigan jersey.

He had so much fun at the game. He can't wait to go to another game!!

He loved the bounce house and the obstacle course. He wished he could have watched the game from there. He said it would have been perfect.

He liked the music and was singing some of the songs. He is so cute.

Dinosaur bed

Thursday September 23, 2012

Aaron has not been himself for about a week, right about the time we increased his seizure meds. He has not eaten anything since then and struggles to drink. He has to drink no less than 50 oz and no more than 60 ounces a day due to diabetes insipidus. (has to do with his sodium level). Some days he barely makes 45 ounces. His mood is good, he is all over the house and is still pulling himself up to a stand but something is not right. Now his body temperature is starting to fluctuate. Today it dropped as low as 96.1. So far it goes back up with his warming blanket after about 30-45 minutes. He also has a runny nose this afternoon. I am hoping that it is just a virus that he is fighting. He went and saw Dr T today and she was a little concerned about him. She increased his meds and told us to watch closely for any signs of an adrenal crisis. He had a bunch of labs done and he hates the dinosaur bed. It is a bed in the peds outpatient clinic where blood draws are done. As soon as the tech said put him on the bed he started screaming. It takes a few people to hold him down and it is horrible to see. I rub his head and give him kisses but nothing helps. I know part of it is him being blind and all of the people and sounds I just wish I could make it all better. He is such a sweet little boy and always has a smile. When he leans in for a kiss and wraps his arms around my neck my heart melts. I LOVE this precious little boy!!
love the curls!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICHOLAS!!!!!

I can't believe that you are 7 years old today. Where has all of the time gone? You my sweet boy have brought me so much joy and taught me so many things. Because of you I have the best job ever, being your mommy. I thank God EVERYDAY for you and your brothers. I am so proud of the person you are becoming. To hear you talk about your faith and to hear you pray for others is amazing. You are such a good friend and big brother. You have changed my life and I love seeing the world through your eyes. I am enjoying every moment with you because time is going so fast. I love the way you jump into my arms to say goodnight, the way you yell "Love You" over your shoulder as you run to the bus stop, when you climb into my lap to snuggle, grab my hand when we are out and about, make sure your brothers have their favorite toys, and just the way you love others. You are such a special boy and God has an amazing plan for you. I am looking forward to see all that you will learn and accomplish this year. Happy birthday my sweet boy. I love you!!

Big boy school

Monday September 10, 2012

Today was Keagan's first day of Preschool. He was so excited and couldn't stop talking about finally being in "big boy school". He had a great day and loved the string cheese for snack at school. He sang "The Wheels On The Bus" all the way home. He can't wait to go back tomorrow and sing more songs.
